Your Visit, Step by Step

A first appointment,
walked through honestly.

Before you arrive
Simple paperwork, sent in advance

A short health history form so the appointment itself can be spent on conversation, not paperwork.

When you arrive
A calm environment. No rushing.

The pace of the office is set by care, not volume. When your appointment begins, it actually begins.

The conversation
We talk before we do anything else.

History, concerns, goals — and if you've had difficult dental experiences before, say so. This conversation shapes everything that follows.

The examination
Thorough. Unhurried. Explained as it happens.

Comprehensive exam — teeth, gums, bite, soft tissue. Digital X-rays where indicated. Dr. Malhotra narrates what he's finding.

The findings
Clear picture. Plain language. No ambiguity.

You'll see your own X-rays and understand what's in them. What's healthy, what needs attention, what's worth monitoring.

Your options
Honest choices. His recommendation. Your decision.

Options are presented as options. You will not be asked to commit on the spot. Time to think is always supported.

Dr. Aditya Malhotra, DMD
Riverdale Dental · West Springfield, MA
A calm environment. An honest conversation.
For Anxious Patients

If dental visits have felt difficult before.

Dental anxiety is completely reasonable. It usually comes from past experiences — being rushed, not being told what was happening, or feeling like decisions were made for you. Dr. Malhotra approaches it the same way every time: by slowing down and explaining everything.

You set the pace

If you need a moment, say so. The appointment adjusts around you.

Everything is announced before it happens

Every instrument, every sensation, every step — described before it begins.

No judgement about avoidance

If it's been years since your last visit, that's fine. We start from where you are.

You can stop at any time

No procedure continues if you want to pause. The visit is yours to control.

Common Questions

Questions patients ask
before their first visit.

A new patient exam typically takes 60 to 90 minutes. That includes the conversation, examination, X-rays if needed, and a walkthrough of findings. It's longer than you may be used to — intentionally so.

Riverdale Dental accepts Delta Dental, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, MassHealth, and most major dental plans. Call (413) 285-7114 and we'll confirm your specific coverage before your visit.

Not unless you want to, or there's a genuine emergency. The first visit is an exam and consultation — nothing is scheduled without your full understanding and agreement.

Not at all — and no judgement. Many patients haven't been for years for all kinds of reasons. The goal of the first visit is simply to understand what's there and give you a clear picture of your options.

Yes. Dr. Malhotra is fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi. If you're more comfortable discussing your care in Hindi or Punjabi, let us know when you call.
